The Wet West Film Festival is again calling for film entries with a connection to water! The international, competitive film festival is to be screened from 5-8 January 2006 in Hokitika, with water as its theme, mixed liberally with the outdoors and stirred by adventure! Last year’s inaugural Festival screened over 40 films in four days to excited, keen audiences, and a number of visiting film makers. All film makers who enter the Festival whose films are selected for screening receive free passes, offering film makers the opportunity to mix with peers and the judging panel, themselves experienced, expert film makers from around New Zealand. Films can be entered in any of five categories, Adventure and Expedition, Culture and Environment, Short Film (under 10 minutes), Adrenaline and the Amateur Film. Kiwi Director of Kambala, winner of the 2005 Culture and Environment Award and The Judges’ Choice Award, Andrew Scott said of his win: “As a first time filmmaker it was great to have my work officially recognised by both industry professionals and adventurers. The unique theme of this festival attracted a diverse range of filmmakers from the one-man-band to large production companies. Seeing their work was both encouraging and inspiring. It may have been wet but it was definitely hot!” The Wet West Film Festival is a fantastic chance for first time film makers to mix with seasoned professionals and exchange ideas, meet new film makers and have a great experience on the wild West Coast! Enter today, entries open until 7 November. Entry forms available on the website or by calling the Events Team on 03 755 8321. |
